Baltimore On The Prairie Workshops!

I'm so thrilled to be teaching at Baltimore On The Prairie again this year, September 4-7, 2024!  If you love to spend time with about 100 others who love the art of applique, this event is for you!  We learn so much about many techniques of applique and it's so wonderful to be around those who love quilts and stitching as much as the rest.

This year, I have 2 class choices available.  Session A is wool applique on pre quilted silk.  It is called Rachael's Dream.  We learn several options for preparation of the shapes and of course the wool applique process.  Optional fabric and thread kits are available containing the pre quilted silk in a taupe or greige color and wool for the applique.  This whimsical antique styled project was inspired by the Jacobean embroidery works of the past and is an absolute joy to work on!  The silk is very lightweight and easy to handle as we stitch.  You'll be amazed how wonderful this is to stitch.  So relaxing and enjoyable!

The Session B class is called In The Valley and is an all cotton block to finish as you wish.  The focus in class will be basting the shapes with Missie's unique method of Starch Basting using her original notions for this technique.  We will touch on basic shapes as well as tiny stems and other small details, offering options for the tiny apples so you can find a way you like to make the small circles.  You'll have the option of the church as shown, a house or a school.  Optional fabric and thread kits are available.  Even beginners will be able to achieve excellent shapes using this unique technique!  Sewing can be done by hand or machine after preparing the shapes with the Starch Basting Technique.

Details can be found at BaltimoreonthePrairie.com or by clicking HERE.  Join me for this special event held in the beautiful Leid Lodge in Nebraska City, NE.  The lodge is a stunning Frank Loyd Wright building and the property has a museum and apple orchard among other activities should you want to stay a bit longer than the applique event.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions at TPQuilts@gmail.com.  I hope to see you there!

Take care,
Missie

Join Me at The New England Quilt Seminars Sept 25-30, 2022!

It is so humbling and rewarding to receive an email from a customer who enjoys what I’ve taught them!  It really made my day to receive these words from a special lady after taking a workshop this spring.

“I have been working on Delightful Garden (shown in the last photo) from the workshop (I’m doing four big blocks) and I had to stop and write you.  For something so complicated looking, your technique is amazingly EASY and FAST!!  I am breezing through all four blocks like nobody’s business.  I didn’t pick up my project again until last month (life happens), but I am already through the centers and long stems for all four plus the hexies for one swag, AND I have ALL of the tiny stems made for all four blocks!  Two of my centers are stitched down!  This is so much fun!  Thank you for an easy, gorgeous project!!  Sincerely, Carol C”

If you’d like to have success like this on the quilt shown here, Nana’s Garden Club, join me at The New England Quilt Seminars this fall in New Hampshire!  Details at www.newenglandquiltseminars.com.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Take care,  Missie

The registration is open for the New England Quilt Seminars hosted by David Taylor Quilts.  I’m thrilled and look forward to this event so much!  12 students for 5 days to have lots of one on one time of instruction on English Paper Piecing and Applique’.  This will be awesome to really focus on improving the techniques used in the quilt.  We’ll get a huge start on the class project, Nana’s Garden Club.  This quilt has a big block center with EPP and Applique.  I love teaching Starch Basting and helping students achieve excellent results.  It’s so rewarding to see the excitement of a student when they have success using the techniques I love.  ❤️  These techniques help make fancy quilts go together wonderfully!

Join me won’t you?  Click HERE for detailed info!  The New England Quilt Seminars is held in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire and looks to be a beautiful setting!  I hope to see you there!
