These pieces are small but you can talk to Missie about making your block larger if you prefer. We will also discuss how to use border prints with this project. Both classes Missie is teaching in 2024 coordinate together in one quilt. Alternate the blocks to make a large quilt, use the block from this class alone as a center medallion for a quilt, repeat as a stunning quilt, or alone as a small wall hanging. You will leave class inspired to complete this project the way you desire! I had so much fun creating these blocks. I love sharing the Joy of Applique' and hope you will consider joining me for a few days of fun! </span></div><div><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Rubik, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Rubik, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">Find out more at <a href="https://www.academyofapplique.com/" target="_blank">Academyof Applique.com</a>. Pumpkin Village! 🍁🎃🍁<p> Fall will be here soon and the FB Group, Woolie Friends, is starting a new wool applique Stitch Along! It’s not too late to start! I know many of you here in blog land don’t use FaceBook, but that’s ok! Everything can be found on my website for you to get started and continue! Pumpkin Village is the name of the Stitch Along and you won’t want to miss out on this super fun event! 12 designers have come together to create this group project. Each week a new block will be released and at the end there will be a finishing design offered. We will each be offering a FREE pattern download the week of our release or a specially priced printed pattern during the event for $5. We will each offer fabric and thread kits as well. My block will be released on Monday the 14th so that’s coming up quick! You can preorder the kits or the printed pattern for my block (at a reduced price) from <a href="http://TraditionalPrimitives.com">TraditionalPrimitives.com</a> and we will ship as soon as possible! My newer wool applique patterns come with preprinted templates on our Needle Turn and Wool Applique Freezer Paper so you don’t have any tracing you need to do! A big bonus! </p><p>The first two designs have been released, but it’s not too late to join in! Pop over to my website and you’ll find the listing for Pumpkin Village on the home page. Be sure to read the description down below the pictures for more details. You’ll find a live link list for each designer so you can order all of the kits and supplies needed. It’s not too late to join in on the fun for this great project! The blocks are so cute and you will love the fun of stitching this fun Pumpkin Village up! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilfeCDSEnJoDNthN_06zlQOCC-EPN142w_P0fe9cBEX2kjtjDLW9XlVBko0bxnMo97y_TqGMBvoZQGa7yOB00xIiQggHCwgF1u5PEPtxBkBr8sleheV2nIBWzdwhN7p5mpPDFy1y6MGlKSUXxvV24CSquxrg-13JMUAj_Ei-VfsEwesjjIKcp63h4m/s2388/IMG_6742.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2388" data-original-width="1668" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilfeCDSEnJoDNthN_06zlQOCC-EPN142w_P0fe9cBEX2kjtjDLW9XlVBko0bxnMo97y_TqGMBvoZQGa7yOB00xIiQggHCwgF1u5PEPtxBkBr8sleheV2nIBWzdwhN7p5mpPDFy1y6MGlKSUXxvV24CSquxrg-13JMUAj_Ei-VfsEwesjjIKcp63h4m/s320/IMG_6742.png" width="224" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Join in on the fun with us! We’ve updated the old family home recently, and I’ve really enjoyed filling the walls with quilts! (My full-time home doesn’t have good walls for hanging quilts.) The picture below shows an antique quilt on the left, and a quilt I made on the right, hanging at the lake house. Pops of color along with the neutral tones lend way to a modern farmhouse style.</span></p><div class="wp-block-image" style="box-sizing: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 1em;"><figure class="aligncenter size-full" style="box-sizing: inherit; clear: both; display: table; margin: 0px auto;"><span style="color: #444444;"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1514" height="512" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px" src="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture2-1.png?resize=642%2C512&ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture2-1.png?w=642&ssl=1 642w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture2-1.png?resize=300%2C239&ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture2-1.png?resize=600%2C479&ssl=1 600w" style="border-radius: inherit; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; height: auto; margin-bottom: 0px; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: bottom;" width="642" /></span></figure></div><p style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 10px;"><span style="color: #444444;">We keep the lake house very neat and tidy so it’s a nice retreat, but my home is filled with “work”- meaning lots of lovely fabrics, threads, and other supplies we quilters need for creating! Both places are equally my happy place. When I learned to quilt back in the 90’s, a few friends and I had a weekly small group for stitching in the evenings. I learned to hand stitch during this time and to this day, it’s a rare day that I don’t pick up my needle and thread to do a little stitching. I love handwork and it helps me relax before a busy workday and helps me wind down in the evenings. A project is always nearby in my “nest” – my spot in the living room. If you do handwork, you totally understand what I mean by my “nest”! I have everything I need right next to me in an antique spool cabinet as my side table. It’s definitely my happy place!</span></p><p style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 10px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;"><span style="color: #444444;">What inspires you?</span></span></p><p style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 10px;"><span style="color: #444444;">I love antique quilts! They are my greatest inspiration for designing fabrics as well as quilts. Sewing window treatments in the ‘90s gave me access to many historical homes and many of the fabrics chosen were similarly styled like the fine fabrics used in the 1800’s in high end homes of the day. It gave me the desire to study fabrics, collect scraps and begin my little antique quilt collection. I strive to find well-loved antiques that have many fabrics in them and lots of age to the overall condition of the quilts. This aged condition fed my desire for rustic, primitive design found in the mid-western states I’ve lived in. I love the texture found in old fabrics whether it comes from a design element or the wear that time creates. The quilts shown here are the typical style of most of the quilts in my collection; not too fancy, but beautiful in their own way!</span></p><figure class="wp-container-2 wp-block-gallery-1 wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped" style="--wp--style--unstable-gallery-gap: var( --wp--style--gallery-gap-default, var( --gallery-block--gutter-size, var( --wp--style--block-gap, 0.5em ) ) ); align-items: normal; box-sizing: inherit; display: flex; flex-wrap: wrap; gap: var( --wp--style--gallery-gap-default, var( --gallery-block--gutter-size, var( --wp--style--block-gap, 0.5em ) ) ); margin: 1em 0px;"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large" style="align-self: inherit; box-sizing: inherit; display: flex; flex-direction: column; flex-grow: 1; justify-content: center; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; position: relative; width: calc(50% - var(--wp--style--unstable-gallery-gap, 16px)*0.5);"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1516" data-id="1516" data-recalc-dims="1" height="678" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" src="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture3-2.jpg?resize=520%2C678&ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture3-2.jpg?w=520&ssl=1 520w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture3-2.jpg?resize=230%2C300&ssl=1 230w" style="border-radius: inherit; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; display: block; flex: 1 0 0%; height: 499.089px; margin-bottom: 0px; max-width: 100%; object-fit: cover; vertical-align: bottom; width: 382.005px;" width="520" /></figure><figure class="wp-block-image size-large" style="align-self: inherit; box-sizing: inherit; display: flex; flex-direction: column; flex-grow: 1; justify-content: center; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; position: relative; width: calc(50% - var(--wp--style--unstable-gallery-gap, 16px)*0.5);"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1515" data-id="1515" data-recalc-dims="1" height="682" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px" src="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture5-2.jpg?resize=522%2C682&ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture5-2.jpg?w=522&ssl=1 522w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture5-2.jpg?resize=230%2C300&ssl=1 230w" style="border-radius: inherit; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; display: block; flex: 1 0 0%; height: 499.089px; margin-bottom: 0px; max-width: 100%; object-fit: cover; vertical-align: bottom; width: 382.005px;" width="522" /></figure></figure><p style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 10px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;"><span style="color: #444444;">Tell us about your fabric.</span></span></p><p style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 10px;"><span style="color: #444444;">As I began creating my own quilt designs around 2001, the business name Traditional Primitives came to mind as it described my style perfectly. I struggled to find fabrics that fit this description and it’s a dream come true to design my version of traditional fabrics with a touch of primitive style for Blank Quilting now! The result is traditional prints with a good bit of texture added. For me, it’s all about color… I love saturated, rich, earthy, jewel tones – shades of reds, browns, blues, teals, golds, greens and purples. This quilt, Delightful Garden, was a very exciting quilt to make. It was the first quilt made entirely of my own fabric collections. I was thrilled at how the collections blended so well. My collections can be collected, treasured and used in the future together!</span></p><div class="wp-block-image" style="box-sizing: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 1em;"><figure class="aligncenter size-full" style="box-sizing: inherit; clear: both; display: table; margin: 0px auto;"><span style="color: #444444;"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1517" data-recalc-dims="1" height="766" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px" src="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture6-1.jpg?resize=770%2C766&ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture6-1.jpg?w=837&ssl=1 837w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture6-1.jpg?resize=300%2C300&ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture6-1.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture6-1.jpg?resize=768%2C764&ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/blog.siysewityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Picture6-1.jpg?resize=600%2C597&ssl=1 600w" style="border-radius: inherit; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; height: auto; margin-bottom: 0px; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: bottom;" width="770" /></span></figure></div><p style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 10px;"><span style="color: #444444;">My last line which can most likely still be found in shops is called The Ashton Collection. The techniques I use for starch basting the shapes and then sewing them on the background makes it easy to sew by hand or machine. I realize making fancy quilts is not for everyone and my next collection, <span style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">Garden Club</span>, includes a panel giving those who don’t do applique like the quilt above, a chance to make a quilt like this! The free download patterns for the quilts shown below are available on the Blank Quilting website. The only construction in the first quilt is the 16 simple blocks that surround the center panel. The corner blocks are part of the panel, and the fancy border print finishes off the quilt easily! It’s very easy construction! So much can be done with the border print, using the elements of the print in different ways. It really made my day to receive these words from a special lady after taking a workshop this spring.</p><p>“I have been working on Delightful Garden (shown in the last photo) from the workshop (I’m doing four big blocks) and I had to stop and write you. For something so complicated looking, your technique is amazingly EASY and FAST!! I am breezing through all four blocks like nobody’s business. I didn’t pick up my project again until last month (life happens), but I am already through the centers and long stems for all four plus the hexies for one swag, AND I have ALL of the tiny stems made for all four blocks! Two of my centers are stitched down! This is so much fun! Thank you for an easy, gorgeous project!! Sincerely, Carol C”</p><p>If you’d like to have success like this on the quilt shown here, Nana’s Garden Club, join me at The New England Quilt Seminars this fall in New Hampshire! Details at www.newenglandquiltseminars.com. Please let me know if you have any questions! </p><p>Take care, Missie</p><p>Please subscribe to my blog by email (over to the right)</p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: border-box; caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Rubik, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; margin: 0px 0px 20px; padding: 0px;"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-b8F23dIW0hP-M2vdlffO_CdKOnS1lnYjSMmHFfL-gddjs3k8mNYhrpxFwh1TSvJ60BeDDekpBAjKDqfvapZ7HIRmUfB7Rz4SD7oPMTdmnnbVOxpQaFRmPXpzedJNgRlgbDAvVZIF7rkz4t4afI5rbU21nzOOxhbgZr6pLUsgaGWmUeOjd5RRjw/s1440/22FB2E01-AE85-44DD-A013-17CE5C9A6333.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-b8F23dIW0hP-M2vdlffO_CdKOnS1lnYjSMmHFfL-gddjs3k8mNYhrpxFwh1TSvJ60BeDDekpBAjKDqfvapZ7HIRmUfB7Rz4SD7oPMTdmnnbVOxpQaFRmPXpzedJNgRlgbDAvVZIF7rkz4t4afI5rbU21nzOOxhbgZr6pLUsgaGWmUeOjd5RRjw/s320/22FB2E01-AE85-44DD-A013-17CE5C9A6333.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: border-box; caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Rubik, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 24px; margin: 0px 0px 20px; padding: 0px;"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV0V63pgkGJFtxpw3AWR-bOgLX1P1uRi_vrr8eGaLZ4bSE7LXt_9GcVk_7T9YDZmMFTOzfH_Xf2NgRpFtvxtj9OgOVmeTk0Q6_RO4NuW8D08vPGefnK_8ztQnY3d0fDsnmyszxPKCZfnEi4gObYHlyLWGBE8qFRjDbtHzyUcmAQ2AKl2nfi7NetQ/s1125/91B9AD9E-5422-412B-B582-8E469704F437.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="980" data-original-width="1125" height="279" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV0V63pgkGJFtxpw3AWR-bOgLX1P1uRi_vrr8eGaLZ4bSE7LXt_9GcVk_7T9YDZmMFTOzfH_Xf2NgRpFtvxtj9OgOVmeTk0Q6_RO4NuW8D08vPGefnK_8ztQnY3d0fDsnmyszxPKCZfnEi4gObYHlyLWGBE8qFRjDbtHzyUcmAQ2AKl2nfi7NetQ/s320/91B9AD9E-5422-412B-B582-8E469704F437.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgYm15vSmLphpwsXV9KCC9mwPYn3VThG2lcAuf3Tk6MWPz-BV5VBTAfVCk61QHgzE3nXKKTRPbIrH1yeNHp6I0bj6BJdb7Hq_q90cwQqO1VTIasjWcC--o_7CeykFw3hYXd-FwjnrqGsSMy2IHTYwpZhK5qdl23XFAl0E-6MOUVvwA-fojpxEi2g/s1440/D10C4554-6745-4548-8B28-7394D5AFF15A.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgYm15vSmLphpwsXV9KCC9mwPYn3VThG2lcAuf3Tk6MWPz-BV5VBTAfVCk61QHgzE3nXKKTRPbIrH1yeNHp6I0bj6BJdb7Hq_q90cwQqO1VTIasjWcC--o_7CeykFw3hYXd-FwjnrqGsSMy2IHTYwpZhK5qdl23XFAl0E-6MOUVvwA-fojpxEi2g/s320/D10C4554-6745-4548-8B28-7394D5AFF15A.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Missie of Traditional Primitives http://www.blogger.com/profile/14923563966121643365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6383577975369462041.post-48250787352052661922022-05-03T16:05:00.002-07:002022-05-03T16:05:13.954-07:00<p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The registration is open for the New England Quilt Seminars hosted by David Taylor Quilts. This will be awesome to really focus on improving the techniques used in the quilt. We’ll get a huge start on the class project, Nana’s Garden Club. This quilt has a big block center with EPP and Applique. I love teaching Starch Basting and helping students achieve excellent results. Christmas 2021 has passed…well almost! We have another family celebration starting today and then, we’ll move on to 2022! We have enjoyed the kids and grand babies so much this last week. A few more days of snuggles and we’ll be back to the regular life events. </p><p>Here’s a photo of our first half of Christmas celebration. We’re missing my middle daughter’s family so we’ll do another official photo in the coming days with everyone! The weather has been so nice we didn’t even need coats for the Christmas Eve church service! We don’t get mild winter weather in Des Moines too often so it was a nice change! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjIT7HLVZ6BiLOud6fS3Q3d233TsKRyLhM-qCWivQHpbexEBv3at-DGE5VwFbMs6JpBIUElOgjPv708199YhbVQ4YuqTMh1iF1jN1LKI-WIJM7K5TBCIoSJLl5NMbEl1x3hCvD9OkiuaLz_4PBtftI_a2mxjuL_zDe2mOcDPP_-eOf_7M2KBX5lWQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjIT7HLVZ6BiLOud6fS3Q3d233TsKRyLhM-qCWivQHpbexEBv3at-DGE5VwFbMs6JpBIUElOgjPv708199YhbVQ4YuqTMh1iF1jN1LKI-WIJM7K5TBCIoSJLl5NMbEl1x3hCvD9OkiuaLz_4PBtftI_a2mxjuL_zDe2mOcDPP_-eOf_7M2KBX5lWQ=s320" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As the title of this post mentions, I will be teaching at a new event for me… the New England Quilt Seminars hosted by David Taylor Quilts. It’s so rewarding to see the excitement of a student when they have success using the techniques I love. ❤️</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhfimSNHaJvCCp5Auiy7UhQ9y4h1U9BoY_xVDwDzWF4sJyedsHWY2U0CPYYVzIu_wTRO84kEeRZFqfQVFwDVl7x7HtZO4QKGKeYVH2eb5yUdfjB2ms_v2eyaLJM90ktykLFAf8_8ufRiFxUe827fOu0cPaqMCTZ9qrnR67a1A5Cvy-VOwbLmukdQw=s2650" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2650" data-original-width="2635" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhfimSNHaJvCCp5Auiy7UhQ9y4h1U9BoY_xVDwDzWF4sJyedsHWY2U0CPYYVzIu_wTRO84kEeRZFqfQVFwDVl7x7HtZO4QKGKeYVH2eb5yUdfjB2ms_v2eyaLJM90ktykLFAf8_8ufRiFxUe827fOu0cPaqMCTZ9qrnR67a1A5Cvy-VOwbLmukdQw=s320" width="318" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhVhqBFtfTvXuLYTXAJ8ITufuZrrk-6NFk-_OGWYD2wa4PSqo6JT1gDcvzH3nPrKJ-r0qcB01e8Udi9XM_JWPmyaGD4yTooab_rBM4BryzxnVArtvtqYb4HlHPW-W09-DUZoDAg19LdAudJagmN1vLgkmhiAulS2b2XW0FHM3F75K1TVeeSGlbqQA=s3028" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3028" data-original-width="3003" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhVhqBFtfTvXuLYTXAJ8ITufuZrrk-6NFk-_OGWYD2wa4PSqo6JT1gDcvzH3nPrKJ-r0qcB01e8Udi9XM_JWPmyaGD4yTooab_rBM4BryzxnVArtvtqYb4HlHPW-W09-DUZoDAg19LdAudJagmN1vLgkmhiAulS2b2XW0FHM3F75K1TVeeSGlbqQA=s320" width="317" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh487fP973C68eUJ2_0aFARBl9VnzOZ2acem7JoJQ_SVJJZXANBEE6VeyVtabfQCb9SkdscndlRpLhgowrtqSDHyb9qqPvltO-QkY9Zr5WBR_8O4VLrdnH0tDkxM8trKCLFtUFeA82-rVwtaEG1taA6a-YUOPwIQruRfLHi-PH1DYblGSNO9Hg1gg=s2623" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2623" data-original-width="2612" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh487fP973C68eUJ2_0aFARBl9VnzOZ2acem7JoJQ_SVJJZXANBEE6VeyVtabfQCb9SkdscndlRpLhgowrtqSDHyb9qqPvltO-QkY9Zr5WBR_8O4VLrdnH0tDkxM8trKCLFtUFeA82-rVwtaEG1taA6a-YUOPwIQruRfLHi-PH1DYblGSNO9Hg1gg=s320" width="319" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Join me won’t you? I wanted to make was a quilt with hexagon blocks.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have an old quilt my Memaw made in the 30’s
and it is one of my favorite antiques for sure.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Generally, Hexagon quilts are made using traditional hand piecing or the
English Paper Piecing method.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
English Paper Piecing method is what interested me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>(EPP).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>This means the quilter has a hexagon shape made from thick paper.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is positioned on the wrong side of the
fabric and the seam allowances are folded over the paper and basted in
place.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I tried to baste hexie after
hexie but I just couldn’t hold that paper still enough to have a good shape in
the end.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The paper would shift and move
at each turn and before long, I had no seam allowance left to turn over the
paper!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>No matter which tricks I used, I
could not do a good job!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></i></span></i></div></span></i><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Cambria","serif"; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;">Years later I was preparing some applique’
shapes using freezer paper and starch and it dawned on me that perhaps this
would work for basting EPP shapes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It
worked like a charm, but after a while, I realized I needed some tools (notions) that were not available. My husband encouraged me to start designing what I needed and we now have a line of EPP and Applique' notions for Starch Basting. </span></i><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Cambria","serif"; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;">I've got a few videos on my website that tell you all about the technique and notions, and shows you just how to use them. I’ve just returned from teaching at the Academy of Applique’ held in Williamsburg, VA. It was SOOOO nice to see people in person (with masks) and see the smiles in their eyes. I absolutely love teaching and to teach at the Academy is such an honor! I always tell my students I hope I can teach them something and love seeing them get excited about creating quilts using the methods I prefer and teach. I’ve heard from several students who have finished all the Hexies for the center and are on their way to prepping the rest of the elements for the center. </span></p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; color: #5d5b66; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.3334; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 7px 15.00075px 7px 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">The class project was Nana’s Garden Club, a quilt inspired by my Mom and Memaw who loved being members of their local garden clubs in Mississippi and Georgia. I remember my Mom being so excited to enter contests of decorating the front door. One year she wrapped the door in gold wrapping paper with a huge ribbon and then added a beautiful winter wreath. She saved that paper and ribbon and we had gifts given for several years with that paper. Memaw had several gardening books that I received from my mom once I started enjoying having a flower garden. I cherish it! I am so blessed to see her handwritten notes in that book. Anyway, the quilt is filled with memories of my Mom and Memaw as I remembered them when I stitched. Isn’t it wonderful how our quilts are filled with memories! </p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Along with those memories, Nana’s Garden Club is filled with whimsical flowers and a few hexies as accents. </p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"> <img height="257" src="https://store-4ey2y6ef39.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/uploaded_images/7bd9fc83-5e53-4df1-8caf-c54477457cf6.jpeg" style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; height: auto; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: auto;" width="255" /> </p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><br /></p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"> <img src="https://store-4ey2y6ef39.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/uploaded_images/398dfde3-0aff-483f-b7f0-dba8f957af0a.jpeg" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; border: 0px; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; height: auto; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: auto;" /> </p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><br />This quilt was a joy to create! Our new product, Ultimate Freezer Paper is an absolute game changer for quick starch prep for applique’ shapes. Due to the wonderful stiffness when two sheets are used together, along with the mini iron and Premium Quilting Starch, the Fingertip Stiletto, which allows you to get your finger right up close to the iron without getting burned and the Starch Brush which gives you just the right amount of starch on the seam allowances, you get quick and precise results on any shape easily! These tools make preparing appliqué and English Paper Piecing shapes a real joy. Then once they are completed, the sewing part goes lickity split! The pattern walks you through the process as well as gives you a lesson on drawing a big circle and setting those hexies in place on the border easily. The pattern is now available on the home page of the website, <a href="http://TraditionalPrimitives.com">TraditionalPrimitives.com</a>. While you are ordering the pattern or kit, be sure to also choose the supplies suggested to make the process easy and quick. It all makes a huge difference in the enjoyment and success while making quilts!<br /><br /> <img src="https://store-4ey2y6ef39.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/uploaded_images/764d0869-14a2-4e1a-ae07-f1a24286c16a.jpeg" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; border: 0px; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; height: auto; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: auto;" /> . <br /></p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">We have kits available for you and remember the pattern is free when you buy the kits for most all of my designs! We have 3 grands now and boy oh boy are they fun! Paxton is quickly becoming a little boy. Kenzie is almost a year old now, beginning to walk and talk, and Julian is on his way to being 2 months old! We found a moment to get a quick pic of the three of them together! Once Kenzie discovered Julian’s mouth we couldn’t keep her finger out of there! Haha! Oh the fun they will have together in the future... Of course I love it when all my girls come home. I’m so proud of each of them as they grow up. They love finding time to be together and make great efforts now that they all live in different parts of the country. ❤️❤️❤️</p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><img src="https://store-4ey2y6ef39.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/uploaded_images/b6e32a65-aace-4ce5-bc03-f7e432fba056.jpeg" style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; height: auto; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: auto;" /> <img src="https://store-4ey2y6ef39.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/uploaded_images/3694df1d-ac83-43a6-9308-cb6392cfdbba.jpeg" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; border: 0px; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; height: auto; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: auto;" /> <br /></p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Thanks for stopping by today!</p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">As always, take care, </p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Missie</p><p style="background-color: white; background-position: 0px 0px !important; border: none; box-shadow: none !important; caret-color: rgb(52, 49, 63); color: #34313f; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">TraditionalPrimitives.com</p>Missie of Traditional Primitives http://www.blogger.com/profile/14923563966121643365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6383577975369462041.post-68936551286194970162021-02-09T06:06:00.000-08:002021-02-09T06:06:06.586-08:00Special Delicvery! Free Download! <p> Today is the day for your Special Delivery! (Free for a short while!) When I was young I was a very inexperienced gardener. I finally found these whimsical blue flowers called Morning Glories and discovered they grow easily! So I dumped the whole seed packet in the large mailbox flower box. 🤣 I discovered my husband was picking them as fast as they could grow...because they were WEEDS! What?!? He worked in agriculture and he knew them as weeds! 🤣 I talked him into leaving a few so I could enjoy my hard work and loved seeing them grow. Eventually they climed to their beautiful glory! But one day the postal worker rang the doorbell and asked if I would mind cutting off the Morning Glories due to the bees. 😢 Needless to say I don’t plant Morning Glories any more and over the years, I discovered there are many floral varieties that are considered weeds! But they sure make beautiful Potted Petals! 😂🤣😅. </p><p>Enjoy your download and remember you can order the printed pattern, fabric kits, thread kits and other supplies if you need something to help make this art easier. Find the links on the home page at TraditionalPrimitives.com. Please read the instructions on the website, below the pattern picture, about how to download the pattern. If you have questions please contact me directly through the contact form on my website. Our systems are in shock and this project is just what I needed to help me dream of springtime! </span></span></p><p><span style="color: #444444;"><span face="Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif" style="font-size: 15px;"> </span><img src="https://store-4ey2y6ef39.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/uploaded_images/54dc825d-a08d-46a2-8c7c-a8dcd0717cc2.jpeg" style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; height: auto; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: auto;" /><span face="Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif" style="font-size: 15px;"> </span></span></p><p style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; border: none; box-shadow: none; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5rem; margin-bottom: 10px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><span style="color: #444444;">Each designer is offering their pattern free in the coming weeks. I’m so excited to get you all started on this project with me. </p><p>Sugar Cookie Snowflakes is inspired by two antique snowflake quilts I own. These quilts are my favorite antiques from my small antique quilt collection. This will be a Mystery Stitch Along beginning about November 20th. Just in time for winter stitching fun! The photos of the green and pink quilts are the antiques and the red and blue pics are samples from the quilt we'll make together in this Stitch Along. I couldn't resist snapping a pic with my granddaughter Kenzie on the pink snowflake quilt and she's posing in a smocked bubble I made for her mom when she was a baby. </p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDHK9mjvavIPqba3eKEKPkPldawTrIPKBkcozdhljIWdkThfbuUOee2VRVhHf83l2LF8Mq00QTVP5Vk6DO_i2KGkwVNgzmioSE-7M3F4-0tlZSFMCLGaMxSJf1YOjCrrNUjs2QkHZDPA/s2048/09ABAD4B-6C30-4F07-A3FA-AAA699275A90.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1655" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDHK9mjvavIPqba3eKEKPkPldawTrIPKBkcozdhljIWdkThfbuUOee2VRVhHf83l2LF8Mq00QTVP5Vk6DO_i2KGkwVNgzmioSE-7M3F4-0tlZSFMCLGaMxSJf1YOjCrrNUjs2QkHZDPA/s320/09ABAD4B-6C30-4F07-A3FA-AAA699275A90.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WnZ0PRxgdbLipY8gY3iSCDB_IVT65FRmzI3vplz5HZSTM8uQ7SP7I_DDETKphwtX6NsA5-MzqkM35U5wVyyDuojEFmXvgNhyiPxzlivTU3OrbhRH-45-bMJGwASGhq-rTjwm9PAg7w/s1440/70F199DC-E16C-4FB2-8BA1-0297D4204AB2.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WnZ0PRxgdbLipY8gY3iSCDB_IVT65FRmzI3vplz5HZSTM8uQ7SP7I_DDETKphwtX6NsA5-MzqkM35U5wVyyDuojEFmXvgNhyiPxzlivTU3OrbhRH-45-bMJGwASGhq-rTjwm9PAg7w/s320/70F199DC-E16C-4FB2-8BA1-0297D4204AB2.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><p>The program will last 3 months with 3 shipments which will include the free pattern and fabrics needed for the quilt. It’s been so much fun making quilts with this fabric! Very soon, I can show you, but for now, it must remain a secret! Barn Dance is out in stores now so please check your local fabric shop for yardage. The next line to be released in December is Abby’s Treasures and I was lucky enough to get some strike offs to create something very special. Before I show this to you up close and personal, I’ll tell you a bit about how Abby’s Treasures came to be...</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;">I’ve always been drawn to reproduction fabrics. I love my colors and I’m sticking to them! There have been times I’ve ventured out of my “Palette” for a special project now and then, but I always come back to the reproduction tones. Rich, deep earthy colors speak to me and bring out the best in my designs. They are always like a gift when I dig in and start choosing fabrics for a new design. My collections with Blank Quilting Corporation are just what I need when I start creating...a full range of lovely color and texture! This collection is available in fat quarter bundles...what a sweet gift indeed. :-}</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;"> <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/a93260d6-11e6-409d-a069-2e5a97f3e37a.jpeg" style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle; width: 89px;" /></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;">Many times, people will ask what inspires the fabrics I create. Each line has been inspired by different experiences in my life, but Abby’s Treasures was inspired by antique quilts. I have a small collection and in recent years, I am really learning to appreciate fabrics from the past. I’ve always been attracted to fabrics and textiles, but lately I’ve been very interested in dating fabrics and learning about how they were printed, and about the women who made quilts in the past. I am amazed at how they made quilts without modern tools we have today! We are spoiled! A good thing I must say! </p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;">My Dad made me a tall quilt ladder a few years ago and I love it so much. It is always covered with quilts and it’s my favorite way to display antiques. Many times I am drawn to that corner and find myself studying fabrics. Such beauty in the simple, and sometimes very complex shapes. </p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem 240px; padding: 0px;"> <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/img-0010.jpg" style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle; width: 209px;" /></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem 40px; padding: 0px;">As I study the simple antique quilts I own, certain fabrics jump out at me and become favorites. I love quilts from the mid 1800’s with their tiny, busy prints...just my style! I am drawn to quilts that have LOTS of different fabrics in them. I started snapping pictures of my favorites and started a picture collection to use for design inspiration for Abby’s Treasures. (That middle picture is not from the mid 1800's but has lots of fun prints.) <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/img-0012.jpg" style="background-color: initial; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle; width: 146px;" /> <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/img-0013.jpg" style="background-color: initial; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle; width: 146px;" /> <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/img-0011.jpg" style="background-color: initial; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle; width: 148px;" /> </p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem 20px; padding: 0px;">If you have seen my earlier lines, you may have noticed they are full of texture. What is texture on a flat piece of cotton? Printed texture...wools, streaks, rug hooking, old stain blobs, etc. If I were going to use the antique fabrics for a new line, I definitely wanted texture added to the old designs. I’m inspired by texture everywhere and find myself snapping pictures when I come across unique texture. Sometimes from cracks on a floor or wall, architectural sculptures, wood, countertops or clothing textures like sweaters or different weaves. As my collection of fabric and texture pictures grew, they were mixed up and combined, added to with doodles here and there and voila! Abby's Treasures came to be! I am very grateful for the team I work with at Blank Quilting Corporation who hear my wishes and see my vision when I send in an idea and bring it to life! Each print is a special little treasure... I couldn't do it without them!</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;"> <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/abby-s-treasures-collection.jpg" style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle;" /></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;">When you take a look, you see what looks like reproduction fabrics with added touches of texture with rich tones of earthy colors for any season. I loved working with these prints on a new quilt called Nana's Garden Club, available next spring after a special teaching event. Watch for updates and the finish of this beauty. </p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;"> <img src="https://traditionalprimitives.com/product_images/uploaded_images/nana-s-garden-club.jpg" style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; display: inline-block; height: auto; max-width: 100%; vertical-align: middle; width: 287px;" /> </p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;">I've added a few fabrics from my other lines and a few of other fabrics I have on hand that fit the style. And I am brought back to what inspires me when I design fabrics...beautiful quilts. This one isn't an antique, but it will be some day. It inspires me to get the next collection finalized- I can't wait to show you what's coming next!</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.5rem; padding: 0px;">Abby's Treasures will be in your local quilt shops in December. If you like what you see, please let your local shop know to get this collection ordered before it is sold out! It was Rustic Wedding's turn yesterday. Honestly, I don’t remember if this quilt has ever had the pleasure of hanging in our home for us to enjoy for more than a day! It is a special quilt because I was inspired by the happy couple above because their wedding was rustic in style. It always makes me think of their beautiful wedding. You can see it is a wedding ring block in the center of the quilt with floral Applique accents. This quilt is layered cotton and wool which adds a bit of extra interest and texture. The printed cotton applique shape which is under the wool appliqué add a hint of curiosity from viewers at show and the comment is "What is it that looks so different about this quilt?" We usually chat for a while and eventually it is decided they are seeing the interest added from the cotton applique layer in the wedding ring blocks. When it comes to wool appliqué, this little tid bit of layered applique is what I’m known for. You can see the prime example in the quilt, Pennies In My Garden on the website <a href="https://traditionalprimitives.com/wool-applique/patterns/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. Once on the website, hold your mouse over these quilts and you will see them up close for detail. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitHXNxsMcE3uK1HNkQz0l1XIl-qSuusY_E4yoPtLH8z3O0c6k1owrOEWlbcfgfGopzWlc7Vwnk4RjmUULAruzh7OG9kiGOt18bYHiSdjRINhATldVa-oZWCZJE5PYIm6ce2pKpPxZSrg/s640/E022262A-BA5D-43B7-8DC8-0110F37ACDFA.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="610" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitHXNxsMcE3uK1HNkQz0l1XIl-qSuusY_E4yoPtLH8z3O0c6k1owrOEWlbcfgfGopzWlc7Vwnk4RjmUULAruzh7OG9kiGOt18bYHiSdjRINhATldVa-oZWCZJE5PYIm6ce2pKpPxZSrg/s0/E022262A-BA5D-43B7-8DC8-0110F37ACDFA.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Have a blessed day and as always, thank you for stopping by! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Take care, Missie</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">PS...with the mention of no shows to attend this year, I welcome you to take a peek at all the goodies on the website and help us empty this house a bit! 😉 We are filled to the rafters with merchandise and no place to offer it to quilters! Wow! Is it possible that 2020 is more than half over already?!? I can’t believe what a year it has been. We started off with a bang at the Road to California Show, then The Rusty Barn Show in Phoenix, a quick stop at home and out to Virginia for the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival and the Academy of Appliqué. And then the pandemic got ahold of our country, we has a grand baby born in the midst of it and we've been working from home since March. Wow, what a year with many ups and downs, cancellations, sadness and joy. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />After returning from VA we were able to self quarantine for 2 weeks to make sure we were clean and healthy in order to meet our new granddaughter Kenzie. She is now 4 months old and brings so much joy! Here she is with her Mama- such a happy baby- and I could say the same about her Mama! We are so blessed and thankful to be well. </span></div>

With our time spent at home so much now, I’ve enjoyed the slower pace we've had due to no shows. (Even though we have missed the shows terribly!). Slow stitching has returned and I’ve been working on a few projects I will be able to share with you very soon. I was able to use some of my previous 3 lines of fabrics with Blank Quilting- Ginger & Spice, Rustic Homestead and Barn Dance along with some strike off's of my 4th and next line Abby's Treasures! Barn Dance should be in your local quilt shop now and they may have a bit of Rustic Homestead left to sell as well! If they are sold out at your local shop, I do have some left. I have plans of adding what I have on hand to my website soon, but if you can’t find it in a shop, please contact me through my website and we can figure out what you need. ( <a href="https://traditionalprimitives.com/" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Tahoma, sans-serif; line-height: inherit; transition: color 0.15s ease 0s;">TraditionalPrimitives.com</a> )</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444;"><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Barn Dance is so fun and festive. Available in fat quarter bundles! </span></div>

Abby's Treasures will be shipped to stores in December. It's my favorite collection to date! Please share this news with your local shop to make sure they have it on order. </span></div>

It's been a while since I've had time to post, but I have been very busy indeed. Since my last post about teaching in my hometown of Springfield, MO, we had a great time in class! I was so thrilled that all the students loved the techniques taught, and they did an Awesome job! Merrily We Quilt Along has an exceptional classroom and knows how to put on a good show for sure!! If you are ever in the area be sure to stop in and so some shopping. They have a great selection of fabrics and notions of all styles- a little something for everyone! They are right off Sunshine and 65 so they are very easy to get to. Last I checked they had a little Rustic Homestead, my second fabric line, left in stock, so be sure to check it out!! They made the nicest display...💕<br />

Speaking of fabric lines by yours truly, I do have another line called Barn Dance which is being sold to stores now. Click <a href="http://www.blankquilting.com/" target="_blank">HERE</a> to see the fabrics up close and personal and be sure to let your local shop know it's time to order now so you can purchase it next May! Your local shop can call Blank Quilting direct or reach out to their sales rep to place the order.<br />

In October the Winter issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects was released and I happen to have a quilt in this issue called Winter Blooms! This magazine is one of my favorites and this issue is quite stunning! My quilt is inspired by the first blooms we see popping up through the winter snow in late winter... a little old snow with bursts of color greeting us with a smile for Spring! We have kits and the magazine available on the<a href="https://traditionalprimitives.com/primitive-quilts-projects-magazine-with-missies-quilt-inside/" target="_blank"> WEBSITE </a>on the Books and Magazines tab! They won't last long so grab one while you can. </div>
